Thomas Hartung MD PhD, is the Doerenkamp-Zbinden-Chair for Evidence-based Toxicology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, with joint appointments at The Whiting School of Engineering Molecular Microbiology and Immunology Georgetown University, Washington D.C. University of Konstanz, Germany. He also is Director of Centers for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT) in the US and Europe.He is the former Head of the European Commission’s Center for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM), Ispra, Italy. He is Chief Editor of Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence. and has authored more than 580 scientific publications. “Prof. Thomas Hartung’s professional career, contributions in the areas of evidence-based toxicology and alternatives methods to animal testing, and extensive list of European and International publications, make him a perfect match for the EUROTOX Merit Award”, said Prof. Heather Wallace, President of EUROTOX, who presented the recognition at the Opening Ceremony of the Virtual 2021 EUROTOX Congress on Monday, September, 27, 2021.
